The Offshore Technology Conference (OTC), an event organized by IBP and OTC from 27 to 29 October in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, has named Antônio Capeleiro Pinto and Subsea7 Buoy Supporting Risers (BSR) as recipients of the organization’s most prestigious accolade – the OTC Distinguished Achievement Award. The award ceremony will take place on 28 October during a luncheon held in honor of the award recipients at OTC Brasil.

Antônio Carlos Capeleiro Pinto from Petrobras was the recipient of the individual award for his contribution to the technical development and management of deep water and ultra-deep water oilfields. Considered a leading authority in his field, Capeleiro has a number of important achievements in his career record, including the development plan for the Marlim Field and other offshore heavy oil reservoirs. Since 2007, he has headed the design of field development projects for carbonate reservoirs in the Santos basin pre-salt province, off Brazil.

The recipient of the corporate award, Subsea7 Buoy Supporting Risers (BSR), was awarded for developing an innovative deep water riser system, from concept to full production. Since 2010, successful completions with the BSR system have led to the development of an innovative deep water riser production system that is superior to other technologies. Tackling the challenge from construction to production, Subsea7 has enabled the operator to use the BSR system effectively at the Sapinhoa and Lula Northeast fields.
