Executives and representatives from major Brazilian pipeline companies met last Sunday the 24th at the Brazilian Institute for Oil, Gas and Biofuels (IBP) in Rio de Janeiro for an introduction to Rio Pipeline 2015.

In an event for partners and sponsors, the organizing committee spoke about the new features for this year’s edition, which is celebrating the conference’s 20th anniversary. Among them are the “Invention to Innovation” Pavilion and the Market and Career Workshop. Rio Pipeline 2015 will take place from 22 to 24 September at the SulAmérica Convention Center.

During the presentation, IBP’s Executive Manager for Marketing, Petrochemicals and Biofuels, Ernani Filgueiras, spoke about the importance of the event for the sector and the choice of this year’s theme: the important role of subsea pipelines in pre-salt developments. “Brazil’s discoveries are among the most significant globally. The pre-salt province provides a great opportunity to develop the broader supply chain, especially the subsea pipeline segment, which will require new technologies and solutions to expand the network,” he said.

Rio Pipeline will have an integrated program of five plenary sessions, nine forums, five short courses, two special sessions – one on gas distribution pipeline integrity and one on Petrobras pipeline technologies awarded at OTC Houston 2015 – in addition to the exhibition and side events. A total of 66 speakers will participate and nearly 200 technical papers will be presented at the event. 70 exhibiting companies have been confirmed for the exhibition, including sponsors Engie, Rosen, T.D.Williamson, Tenaris, TBG, Petrobras and Smarttech. The event typically brings together 2,000 visitors and approximately 1,000 speakers from 20 different countries.

Among the new features this year is the “Invention to Innovation” Pavilion, where 14 tech startups will showcase solutions for the pipeline industry. The event will also feature a Market and Careers Workshop for professionals seeking opportunities. Seminars on entrepreneurship and career development are also included in the program. The Professional of the Future Program, geared to university students, will also run during the event and is expected to attract 300 undergraduate students from Rio de Janeiro.
