IBP Appointed to the Permanent Technical Advisory Committee for the Carbon Market
The Brazilian Petroleum, Gas and Biofuels Institute (IBP) was appointed on Friday (June 6) by the Extraordinary Secretariat for the Carbon Market (SEMC) of Brazil’s Ministry of Finance to join the Permanent Technical Advisory Committee for the Carbon Market. The list of selected organizations was published on the Ministry’s official website.
IBP will represent the energy sector on the committee, which will be responsible for helping define the rules governing the Brazilian Emissions Trading System (SBCE). The group will provide technical support for the implementation of Brazil’s regulated carbon market, with a focus on emissions reduction and technological innovation.
The Institute’s appointment reflects the recognition of its expertise in this field. Since 2018, IBP has maintained a dedicated working group focused on carbon market and climate-related issues and remains the only organization that brings together multiple segments of the energy sector under a single institutional framework.
Its national representativeness is further reinforced by a diverse membership base encompassing the entire oil and gas value chain, including upstream and downstream activities, refining, thermoelectric generation, fuels, and biofuels.
