Brazil Reaffirms Technological Leadership at OTC Houston 2026 with a Focus on New Exploration Frontiers
The global offshore energy sector turns its attention to Brazil this Monday, May 4, during the 2026 Offshore Technology Conference (OTC) in Houston, United States. One of the highlights of the opening day is the panel “Brazilian Offshore Energy at a Glance – Next Wave and New Frontiers”, which will discuss new opportunities in the country’s offshore projects.
The discussion will bring together leading industry executives and experts, moderated by Roberto Ardenghy, President of the Brazilian Petroleum, Gas and Biofuels Institute (IBP), alongside Carlos Mastrangelo. The session will emphasize Brazil’s strategic moment as it seeks to advance new exploration frontiers such as the Pelotas Basin and the Equatorial Margin.
Roberto Ardenghy highlighted the importance of OTC Houston as the leading platform to showcase Brazil’s competitiveness in the global energy landscape. “Being at OTC is essential to demonstrate Brazil’s leadership in the sector. Presenting the technological innovations and solutions developed in Brazil allows us not only to share our achievements but also to attract the partnerships needed to unlock new frontiers, ensuring that the Brazilian industry remains at the forefront of efficiency and productivity.”
The panel will feature prominent industry executives and specialists, including Rafael Fernando Nascimento, Wilsses Menezes Afonso, Pablo Tejera Cuesta, Patricia Pradal, and Felipe Arbelaez. The forum will also include commercial and regulatory authorities such as Brad McKinney, Artur Watt, and Tabita Loureiro. Floriano Pesaro will present the organization’s initiatives to support foreign investors.
IBP will also participate in the panel“The Transformative Technology: The R&D Clause as a Pillar of Energy Development”on May 4. The session will showcase successful case studies across the entire exploration and production value chain, demonstrating how regulatory frameworks can effectively drive innovation and generate long-term value. The Institute will be represented by Claudio Nunes, who will present work developed in partnership with William Clavijo Vitto.
Throughout the four-day event, IBP — as the representative of Brazil’s oil, gas and biofuels industry and the foreign society responsible for organizing OTC — will be present at booth #4018, serving as a meeting point for its member operators and service providers active in the offshore segment.
