Winning Team of the Young Rio Pipeline Program Hackathon Announced at Rio Pipeline & Logistics 2025

Last Thursday (11), during the closing ceremony of the Young Rio Pipeline Program, the winners of the Hackathon were announced, held as part of Rio Pipeline & Logistics 2025. The competition challenged five finalist teams to present technological and operational solutions to support Brazilian gas transportation companies in advancing decarbonization, fostering energy efficiency and new sustainable business models.

The team formed by Felipe Figueiredo and Tainara Zanazi took first place with the Ecoleak Twin application, capable of detecting potential methane leaks at Natural Gas Compression Stations (ECOMP) through digital twin technology. They received a prize of R$ 5,000.

Other finalist projects included the use of mobile compressors for reinjecting gas released during maintenance, the recovery of heat generated by compressors for clean energy production, and a system for capturing and neutralizing greenhouse gases. The teams ranked second and third received R$ 2,000 and R$ 1,000, respectively, in addition to the opportunity to visit the Pipeline Technology Center (CTDUT).

Talent Development for the Future of the Industry

Initiatives such as the Young Rio Pipeline Program Hackathon highlight the importance of attracting, engaging, and preparing young talents for the challenges of the oil and gas sector. In addition to fostering creativity and innovation, these actions bring new professionals closer to the industry’s real demands, contributing to the renewal of skills and the long-term sustainability of the sector.

The industry must demonstrate to young people that the sector is highly technological and diverse, with opportunities for professionals from different fields of knowledge. The combination of digital transformation, energy transition, and process innovation opens doors for specialists from multiple backgrounds. To stand out in this context, young talents must develop technical skills such as project management and risk analysis, as well as behavioral competencies such as self-management, adaptability, collaboration, and the ability to turn knowledge into action. This combination is essential to shaping the leaders of the future and ensuring the industry remains competitive, innovative, and connected to new generations.
