OTC Brasil 2025 attracts over 23,000 participants in Rio de Janeiro
Event surpasses expectations with 250 exhibitors and over 3,200 delegates, fostering strategic debates on the Equatorial Margin, energy transition, and innovation
Rio de Janeiro, October 30, 2025 – The Offshore Technology Conference (OTC) Brasil 2025 concluded this Thursday (October 30) at ExpoRio, exceeding expectations and reaffirming its position as the largest and most influential offshore energy event in Latin America.
During the closing session, Petrobras President Magda Chambriard was honored on behalf of the company for the Búzios 7 Project, recognized for its successful implementation of technological innovations benefiting the offshore industry. “We are about to produce 1 million barrels per day in the Búzios field. We believe Búzios can reach 2 million barrels,” said the executive. Located in the pre-salt Santos Basin, Búzios produced 821.88 thousand barrels per day (bpd) in August, surpassing Tupi for the first time as Brazil’s largest oil-producing field, according to ANP data.
Over three days, more than 23,000 visitors from 53 countries filled the event’s 16,800 m², turning it into the epicenter of discussions on the future of energy and connecting Brazil’s expertise in deepwater operations with renewable energy innovation.
The success of OTC Brasil 2025 was also measured by the quality of its discussions. The conference gathered over 3,200 delegates – a high-level audience of executives, experts, and government representatives – who packed the technical sessions and plenary panels. The exhibition area hosted more than 250 companies and 47 sponsors, representing the entire oil, gas, and energy value chain and showcasing cutting-edge technologies and services.
High-level debates were the highlight of the conference, addressing strategic topics for the future of Brazil — including the development of the Equatorial Margin, the role of natural gas in energy security, the potential of offshore wind, and advancements in CCUS (Carbon Capture, Utilization and Storage) and decarbonization.
Innovation emerged as a cross-cutting theme, with a strong emphasis on Artificial Intelligence and digitalization to enhance efficiency and safety. In parallel, the iUP Innovation Connections, IBP’s innovation hub, stood out by connecting startups, investors, and large companies to accelerate digital transformation in the energy sector.
“The impressive attendance and the high-level debates — particularly on the Equatorial Margin and energy transition — show that the sector is united and ready to lead the social and economic development Brazil needs,” said Roberto Ardenghy, President of the Brazilian Petroleum, Gas and Biofuels Institute (IBP). “The record number of delegates and the strong international presence reflect the quality of our technical program. We brought the world’s top experts to Rio de Janeiro, showcasing the strength of Brazilian engineering and the country’s central role in the global energy landscape,” he added.
iUP Innovation Connections
A highlight once again after its successful 2023 edition, iUP Innovation Connections brought together companies, startups, and industry professionals for discussions and exchanges on innovation and technology in the energy sector.
In 2025, the initiative featured over 30 Brazilian and international startups, eight discussion panels, three sessions with CEOs and market leaders, and startup pitches focused on business ideas and technological solutions.
New attractions this year included speed dating sessions between startups and major companies; a podcast area hosting interviews with prominent oil and gas professionals; and the iUP Innovation Connections Challenge, held in partnership with the National Agency for Oil, Natural Gas and Biofuels (ANP) Human Resources Training Program (PRH-ANP). The competition brought together university teams presenting solutions for real challenges in the energy sector.
Cutting-edge Offshore Technology
The exhibition area, featuring 250 companies, reflected the sector’s diversity and technological strength, with solutions in decarbonization, digitalization, operational safety, and interactive experiences.
Ambipar, the event’s official emission offset partner, presented its environmental solutions in consulting, waste management, decommissioning, and monitoring.
TotalEnergies showcased the AUSEA Methane Tracker, a pioneering technology developed in partnership with CNRS and the University of Reims Champagne-Ardenne, using ultra-light sensors mounted on drones to detect and quantify methane and CO₂ emissions in real time.
Priner presented its Pressurized Habitat, a solution for spark containment in classified areas such as offshore platforms, refineries, and industrial plants. Mecus featured subsea engineering solutions for mature fields, while Prio led debates on innovation, sustainability, talent development, and offshore operational challenges.
Interactive Experiences
At Petrobras’ booth, visitors embarked on a virtual journey aboard the FPSO P-77 at the Búzios field through immersive virtual reality goggles. Shell offered an interactive sound experience on oil exploration with quizzes and eco-friendly gifts, while ExxonMobil hosted a lecture series on R&D and innovation projects in partnership with Brazilian institutions.
IBP, the event organizer, also stood out with a booth featuring multiple activations, talks, and networking spaces, reinforcing its role as a strategic connector and promoter of an innovation-friendly environment. Click hereto see the full list of exhibitors.
