One Week to Go: OTC Brasil 2025 Set to Begin with Innovation and Energy Transition in Focus
The countdown is on for OTC Brasil 2025, Latin America’s leading offshore industry event, taking place from October 28 to 30 at ExpoRio Cidade Nova in Rio de Janeiro. Organized by the Brazilian Petroleum and Gas Institute (IBP) and the Offshore Technology Conference (OTC), the event will bring together over 20,000 participants from more than 20 countries, 150 national and international speakers, 200 exhibitors, and multiple technical sessions and themed arenas, consolidating its position as the largest technical and executive networking platform for the offshore industry in Brazil.
In its previous edition, held in 2023, OTC Brasil welcomed around 180 exhibitors and over 24,000 visitors — a record expected to be surpassed this year.
The 2025 program reflects a transformative moment for the industry, under the theme “The Future of Deepwater Technologies: Connecting Oil & Gas and Renewables.” The conference connects Brazil’s deepwater expertise to the global energy transition, featuring panels and plenary sessions with executives from Petrobras, Shell, TotalEnergies, Equinor, Chevron, SLB, Halliburton, TechnipFMC, BW Energy, Brava Energia, TBG, and Prio.
Key sessions include “Exploring the Equatorial Margin,” “Women at the Forefront of Energy Innovation,” “CCUS and Initiatives to Reach Net Zero,” and “Digitalization in Offshore Operations: The Role of AI in Tackling Industry's Biggest Challenges,” along with conferences on offshore wind energy and natural gas monetization in South America.
Opening Ceremony
The Opening Ceremony, on October 28, will feature Roberto Ardenghy, President of IBP; Maiza Pimenta Goulart, Chair of OTC Brasil 2025; Artur Watt, Director-General of ANP; Magda Chambriard, President of Petrobras; Patrick Brunnings, Minister of Suriname; José Alexandre Barroso, Secretary of Oil and Gas of Angola; Carlos Mastrangelo, Member of the OTC Board; and Clécio Luís, Governor of Amapá.
Throughout the event, leaders such as Cristiano Pinto da Costa (Shell Brasil), Olivier Bahabanian (TotalEnergies), Jim Sessions (Baker Hughes), and Magda Chambriard (Petrobras) will take part in the Executive Dialogues series, addressing industry trends, new technologies, and energy transition challenges.
“OTC Brasil is a showcase of the country’s most advanced offshore technologies — a bridge between Brazilian expertise and the global energy transition. This event reaffirms Brazil’s leadership in innovation, sustainability, and international energy dialogue,” emphasized Roberto Ardenghy, IBP President.
Innovation & Awards
A highlight of the program will be the iUP Innovation Connections Pitch, hosted by iUP – IBP’s innovation hub, spotlighting startups with technological solutions for the oil, gas, and energy sectors. Up to 15 startups will pitch their projects to investors and major companies during the event, reinforcing the importance of open innovation across the industry’s value chain.
OTC Brasil will also hold its traditional Distinguished Achievement Award ceremony, honoring Ronaldo Rossi for his contribution to deepwater anchoring systems, and Petrobras’ Búzios 7 project, recognized for its efficient and innovative execution of a complex offshore development.
Networking with Brazilian Flavor
The event week kicks off with “Feijoada in Rio”, held at the Fairmont Hotel in Copacabana — a celebration of Brazilian culture and hospitality that brings together executives, government officials, and global industry leaders in a relaxed networking environment.
