Who We Are

General Assembly

The General Assembly is the IBP's top body, with powers to decide on all matters relating to its purpose and to take the resolutions it deems appropriate for its defense and development. The annual meeting is on March 31 of each year, as per the IBP Articles of Incorporation, but special meetings can be called when it is deemed necessary, as per the interests of the organization. Meetings are convened by the chair of the Board of Directors, on the initiative of any member of the Board of Directors, or at the request of at least one-fifth of the institute's members.

Who is allowed to participate?

All members of all categories of IBP membership may participate: equity, sectoral, non-sectoral, professional, student, institutional partner, emeritus, and Upstream and Dowstream associates. However, only members in good standing in the equity, sectoral, non-sectoral, and associate categories have voting rights in the Assembly's deliberations.

The 69th Ordinary General Assembly is scheduled for March 2026. More information is coming soon.

History

The 68th Annual Meeting took place on March 27, 2025, at the IBP headquarters in Rio de Janeiro. In this edition, the following positions on the Board of Directors were filled:

  • Category 1: 5 positions for Upstream associate members and 5 positions for Downstream associate members;
  • Category 2 or 3: 2 positions for Upstream associate members and 2 positions for Downstream associate members;
  • Independent Directors: 3 positions open to free application.

For the Audit Committee, six positions were filled:

  • 3 effective members;
  • 3 deputy members.
