Since its foundation at November 21th, 1957, the Brazilian Petroleum, Gas and Biofuels Institute, conveys the mission to promote the development of petroleum, natural gas and biofuels sector, fostering a competitive, sustainable, ethical and socially responsible industry.

Through the years, the Institute built an open and democratic space, guided by the respect to diverge opinions and by the quest for the balance of interests; a place to share technical knowledge, exchange experiences and promote the best practices in the oil and gas sector.

The IBP’s origin is associated with knowledge. To join experts from many areas and segments and contribute to nurture, growth and preservation of knowledge is the role of IBP’s technical and sectorial committees. The know-how generated inside those committees concentrates information, anticipates trends and diffuses good practices that reinforces the technical improvement of professionals and the progress of regulatory and technology environment.

The activities of the IBP’s 37 committees are based on the alignment of efforts, result of a long-standing shared work for the development of the sector. The groups transversely also enables the generation of products and services, through debates focused on quality, technology, regulation, among other topics.

Over the last two years, the resumption of the bid rounds calendar and the permanent areas offering, associated with measures that helped to create a regulatory framework to foster investments attraction, have consolidated the recent oil and gas industry transformation in Brazil and generated an important window of opportunity for wealth, job creation, taxes revenue, as well as stimulating innovation and competitiveness.

 

The industry actors

The IBP, as the Home to Our Industry, works to bring together the different players in the oil and gas sector, acting to gather interests, disseminate technical knowledge and good practices, and also show the potential of one of the industries that most contributes to the strengthening of Brazil’s economy.

Together with its 200 companies and 120 associated professionals, the institute is working to build, on a daily basis, an environment of knowledge and expertise sharing, helping to amplify business opportunities and engagement between stakeholders.
