IBP will be organizing the first edition of a Production Facility Control Room Operations training course on October 26, in Rio de Janeiro, with demonstrations in a dynamic FPSO simulator, as a platform for sharing experience and knowledge between the Brazilian and global oil industry.

The initiative follows a partnership concluded with the French Institute of Petroleum (IFP) during the 2014 edition of Rio Oil & Gas – the largest oil and gas event in Latin America – organized biannually by IBP. Instructors will offer students a combination of a high-fidelity simulator and an intensive training program to improve the performance of FPSO operators in anticipating plant behavior and stabilizing deviations.

Taught in English by instructor Patrick Steiblé, a functional security engineering specialist, and in Portuguese by Antônio Orestes, a petroleum engineer at Petrobras and professor at the Mathematics Institute of UFRJ, the course has limited registration and special prices for IBP members.
