WPC Future Leaders Forum 2016

In 2016, from 24 to 27 October, IBP – Brazilian Petroleum, Natural Gas & Biofuels Institute brought to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, the fifth edition of the largest gathering of young professionals in the petroleum industry. Under the motto “Game changers: new leaders for a new competitive energy industry”, the 2016 edition of the event, created by the World Petroleum Council (WPC), had as pillars of discussion topics such as industry sustainability, business leadership and technology & innovation.

FLF is a global and collaborative event.
To organize this 5th edition here in Brazil, young professionals from all around the globe did a lot of research, organized a lot of focus groups, discussions and meetings.

Pedro Miras Salamanca has 27 years of experience in the hydrocarbons sector (oil and gas) performed within the private and public sector, specifically in Repsol (international, refining, strategic planning), National Energy Commission (oil & biofuels), IEA (delegate), SEQ (Chairman) and CORES (Board of Directors). Currently, He is the Chairman of the World Petroleum Council Spanish Committee.
He is also professor specialized in economics and energy utilities regulation at the Club Español de la Energía, CIRCE Foundation and International Menendez Pelayo University, among others. His three degrees include a Bachelor in Industrial Engineering, Master of Business Administration and Master of International Business Administration.

Frances Abbots currently works for BG Group Technology as the Global Technology Manager for Carbonate Reservoirs & IOR, managing a portfolio of over 20 multi-discipline R&D projects with international & Brazilian universities and service companies all aimed at improving oil recovery from the Brazilian Pre-Salt.

She has 27 years petroleum industry experience, spending the last 5 years in BG Brazil. She has also worked on projects in 19 countries, has been involved in several strategic Group projects and has extensive experience working with many national oil companies. She has a Ph.D. in Carbonate Geology, Bristol University (1989) and a B.Sc. in Geology, University of Wales (1985).

Moro joined Petrobras as a Construction, Assembly and Installation technician and witnessed the appearance of the first offshore platforms at Engineering, built in the Campos Basin. The engineer was in charge of deep-water Exploration and Production projects for the Roncador, Marlim Sul, and Jubarte fields.

Rafael Jaen Williamson is a seasoned executive with over 35 years in the oil & gas industry, with strong technical and operational backgrounds. Rafael has spent the last 10 years in the public and government affairs space where he is considered a subject matter expert in advocacy, reputation and crisis management, and on strategic stakeholder management.
Prior to entering the public and government affairs field, Rafael devoted over 20 years to the managing and operating of refineries in the Americas, specializing in optimization of operations.
Rafael authored “Energía en Latinoamérica: crónicas de la búsqueda de una identidad” (ISBN 978-9962-676-02-7), a book on energy in Latin America. Moreover, he has contributed with a variety of energy-related articles to specialized magazines. He has delivered more than 18 international speeches to external audiences. He has also lectured as a professor in marketing to the MBA courses at Universidad Interamericana de Panamá.
Rafael was bestowed with the Interamerican Medal by the Interamerican University of Panamá. This medal is bestowed to members of the University community, who have accomplished actions and services in favor of the Institution, have demonstrated a special capacity and dedication, or have excelled in promoting the prestige of the University in a national & international level.
He is graduated in Chemical Engineering and holds an MBA, with emphasis in Marketing. With a multicultural background, Rafael is fluent in Spanish, English and Portuguese. He has worked and lived in Panama, USA and Brazil.

Carla Lacerda

Carla Lacerda é presidente da ExxonMobil Brasil, com foco em atividades de exploração e produção. Antes desta atribuição, ela era a New Opportunity Manager da América do Sul e América Gerente Comercial, dentro da ExxonMobil. Ela tem um papel no apoio às equipes de exploração em interfaces com o governo, proporcionando perspectivas da indústria em termos fiscais, contratuais e outros quadros regulamentares.

Sua carreira na indústria de Petróleo e Gás teve inicio diante de um estágio na Petrobras Centro de Pesquisas (Cenpes), seguido por uma atuação no Centro de Pesquisa da ExxonMobil em Dallas. Em seguida, Carla teve várias atribuições em Houston, trabalhando com exploração doméstica (Texas & Louisiana onshore) e vários projectos internacionais (Angola, outra África Ocidental, China, Indonésia, Mar do Norte). Ela teve duas atribuições no Brasil como Venture Manager, e mais recentemente como Lead Country Manager da ExxonMobil. Nestas posições, Carla teve um papel ativo na interface com o governo brasileiro sobre as perspectivas da indústria em relação ao quadro regulatório em evolução. Ela também foi também
Presidente da Comissão de E & P do Instituto Brasileiro de Petróleo, representando investidores em exploração e produção. Além disso, ela foi nomeada como Vice-Presidente de Comitê Executivo para Câmara Americana do Rio de Janeiro de Comércio (AmCham).

Carla atua na ExxonMobil há aproximadamente 30 anos. Ela participou Instituto de Tecnologia da Flórida e, em seguida, Texas A & M University, onde recebeu diploma de bacharel e mestre em Oceanografia Química. Carla nasceu e foi criado no Rio de Janeiro, Brasil e tem dupla nacionalidade (Brasil-EUA).
