| III International Seminar on Oilfield Water Management |
|
|
For the third time this seminar has been designed to provide its attendants with the state of the art information required to tackle the problems related to water management. Oilfield water management is a major and complex subject that has achieved great advance in recent times, mainly due to a better understanding of waterflooding processes and to the use of increasingly available new technologies. Maintenance of oil production rates from mature fields requires continuously augmented water injection rates, causing a substantial increase in water production and discharge. Hence, operators have been dealing with large volumes of produced and injected water in the last years, notably in offshore fields. For the coming years, some of the main challenges related to water management include water injection rate maintenance, environmental restrictions, produced water management, scale, corrosion, souring, geomechanics and new technologies. The seminar is organized in a panel session, followed by six technical sessions. The lectures will be delivered by a number of outstanding industry experts, and have been selected to broadly cover strategic topics in Water Management.
