Pós-graduado em Mecânica dos Fluidos pela UFRJ em 1984, MBA em Marketing e Finanças pela COPPEAD em 1996 e MBA em Políticas Públicas e Governo pela Economia da UFRJ em 2000. Trabalhou no Sistema Petrobras de 1977 a 2013 tendo atuado no planejamento, projeto, construção e implantação de diversos dutos do país, destacando-se o Gasoduto Bolívia-Brasil no qual foi Coordenador do Projeto, aquisição de materiais e tecnologia da construção. Foi Diretor da área de Gas Natural da Transpetro de 2006 a 2013,tendo sido responsáel pela Operação e Manutenção da malha de gasodutos da Petrobras e do Terminal de processamento de gás de Cabiúnas/Macaé. Trabalhou em Lima/Peru na implantação do GSP – Gasoduto Sul Peruano de 2014 a 2016. Atualmente é consultor independente atuando como voluntário no IBP e CTDUT – Centro de Tecnologia de Dutos.

Dr. Guerrero is a mechanical engineer who assists and guides corporations globally with their technology development needs. Dr. Guerrero has worked in research and development (R&D) and business development for several years in diverse companies such as Draper Laboratory in Cambridge, MA; Schlumberger Research (SLB) in Houston, TX and Cambridge, MA; and FIAT-IVECO in Torino Italy. Dr. Guerrero's technical expertise includes analyzing, designing, and developing mechanical systems, including those for harsh and extreme conditions. He has extensive experience with the energy and oil and gas industries and is an owner of over 20 mechanical system patents worldwide. Dr. Guerrero earned his master's and Ph.D. degrees from the University of Texas at Austin and was awarded the Honorary Doctoral degree from Universidad Nacional de Ingeniería in Lima-Peru in 2015. In 2014, he became a member of the Pan-American Academy of Engineering (32 countries). He was the 2015-2016 President of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), an organization of almost 140,000 engineers in 150 countries.

Since 2003, Dr. Guerrero has collaborated with MIT professors, graduate students, and WHOI researchers and lectured in engineering at MIT. He developed applications for Draper Laboratory’s technological capabilities and assets in the energy industry, including oil and gas exploration and the nuclear industry. Dr. Guerrero served as a principal research scientist at SLB, where he helped develop robots to convey equipment in horizontal oil and gas wells. He also established numerous research collaborations with professors and students from universities and research centers around the world and led the 2,400-member SLB/Eureka Mechanical Engineering Community in 3 continents and all SLB engineering centers for 5 years.

He is fluent in several languages, and loves skiing and swimming, history, economics, and Renaissance Italian art.
