The Offshore Technology Conference (OTC)

OTC is where energy professionals meet to exchange ideas and opinions to advance scientific and technical knowledge for offshore resources and environmental matters. Founded in 1969, OTC’s flagship conference is held annually in Houston. OTC has expanded technically and globally with the Arctic Technology Conference, OTC Brasil, and OTC Asia.

The Brazilian Petroleum, Gas and Biofuels Institute (IBP)

Founded in 1957, IBP is a private, non-profit organization focused on promoting the development of the Brazilian oil, gas and biofuels industry in a competitive, sustainable, ethical and socially responsible environment. Today, IBP congregates more than 160 associated companies and 250 professionals and it´s recognized as an important industry representative for its technical knowledge and fostering the debate of big industry issues. Paulo Couto, TechnipFMC, will be recognized with the Distinguished Achievement Award for Individuals for his significant contributions to the technical development and management of subsea systems in Brazil and worldwide.

Distinguished Achievement Award for Companies

Platform

The Distinguished Achievement Award for Companies, Organizations, and Institutions recognizes Shell BC-10 Life of Field Seismic Monitoring System for their success in developing the deepest full field installation of a LoFS system in the world. The project was successfully deployed under a fast-track schedule and continues to deliver relevant reservoir behavior data after four years of operation.

This outstanding project, also known as Parque das Conchas (BC-10), covers the entire reservoir and consists of 14 seismic cables, totaling 99 km, and 11km of backbone cable connecting back to a small hub. It reduces emissions and the environmental footprint, and represents a technology showcase aimed at delivering business value by safely maximizing reservoir recovery factors.

The Youth Professional Program is held annually alongside national and international events of the market. Through debates with specialists in the oil and human resources areas, headhunters and youth professionals, the students will be able to interact with speakers, share experiences and collect valuable tips.

Bus Transfer Routes

The event organization will offer bus transfer routes – from 24 to 26 October, passing near the main hotels and going to Riocentro, back and forth.
Available to delegates, exhibitors and visitors of the exhibition, with specific schedule and points of embarking and disembarking.

VISA INFORMATION

Attendees are advised to ensure they fulfill all legal requirements to enter Brazil. In addition to a valid passport, an entry visa and invitation letter may also be required. We strongly suggest that our international attendees and exhibitors obtain a business visa to make your entry into Brazil easier.

 

US attendees can visit www.brazilhouston.org (Houston office) or www.brasilemb.org (DC office) or for complete entry requirements. Other international attendees can contact their local Brazilian Consulate.

 

Visa Invitation Letter
Designed to help participants to meet requirements in certain countries, official letters of invitation for entry visa may be supplied upon request. Please allow sufficient time for this procedure. Email us to request a letter.

 

Note that such letters do not commit the organizing committee to any kind of financial support, hosting arrangement, nor does it guarantee an entry visa issue. Please, be advised that the invitation letters will be issued by the Brazilian Petroleum, Gas and Biofuels Institute (IBP) after the participant registration. Therefore, you should fill out the registration form as early as possible in order to get your visa in time for the event.

Airport Information

Galeao International Airport (GIG) is the main airport in Rio de Janeiro. It is the largest entrance point for tourists visiting Brazil. There are two terminals, which can handle up to 15 million passengers a year. The airport is located 13 miles north of Rio de Janeiro.

 

Santos Dumont Airport (SDU) is the city’s second major airport behind the Rio de Janeiro-Galeão International Airport. Located adjacent to the city’s downtown, the airport handles part of Rio de Janeiro’s short- to medium-haul domestic traffic.

 

Ground Transportation

Car Rentals
Reservations should be made at the point of origin. Should the visitor require a rented car for a day or two during his stay, the Concierge of the hotel will be able to make the necessary arrangements.
Subway System
Rio de Janeiro’s subway is safe, efficient and easy to use. Tickets are for one, two or ten rides.

Set the time when you arrive — Rio de Janeiro is 3 hours behind in Greenwich Meridian Time (GMT).

Brazil is connected to all appropriate international telephone and satellite communications system, providing trouble-free connections to virtually anywhere in the world.

 

Medical Services

Most hotels have immediate access to on-call 24-hour medical assistance. There are also many government and private hospitals with 24-hour emergency and out-patient departments.

 

Safety

One of the key components to the success of OTC Brasil is the safety of our delegates, exhibitors, and presenters. When traveling, as in any major city, take certain precautions. Always keep your valuables such as jewelry, airline tickets, money, and any important documents, out of sight and safely stored in a hotel safety deposit box.

 

In the event of an emergency at Riocentro, OTC Brasil staff and/or the convention center staff will provide conference delegates with any necessary information and instructions. An emergency procedures video is presented before each session with details for escape routes.

Vaccinations

An International Certificate of Vaccination for yellow fever is required by the Brazilian Government for travelers who have been in these countries within the last three months, or have come directly from these countries:
Angola, Colombia, Guinea-Bissau, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Benin, Ecuador, French Guyana, Sierra Leone, Bolivia, Gabon, Liberia, Sudan, Burkina, Faso, Gambia, Nigeria, Venezuela, Cameroon, Ghana, Peru.

 

The certificate can be acquired at an official yellow fever vaccination center as designated by the state health departments in your city. The vaccine must be manufactured under approval of the World Health Organization.
The vaccination must be taken at least (10) ten days before travelling. Note this information may change. Please check before traveling.
